IYRC Signature Events Debut at 2026 Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Macao "Youth Science Cup", Young Innovators Gain All-round Growth

The 2026 Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Macao "Youth Science Cup" Teenagers Science & Technology Competition was successfully held alongside the 14th China Information Technology Expo (CITE). Two official standardized IYRC competition tracks were featured as core highlights of the exhibition’s tech zone. Young participants from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area competed side by side, delivering stable performances with solid technical skills and achieving outstanding results overall.

Two exclusive competition zones were designed for IYRC official events:

1. Intelligent Task Handling Robot Challenge The arena is equipped with color recognition blocks and designated delivery zones. Competitors independently assemble robot structures, write codes and calibrate sensors to control robots to complete integrated engineering tasks including precise positioning, material sorting and targeted delivery. This track comprehensively evaluates participants’ logical programming, on-site troubleshooting and emergency response capabilities.   

2. Spherical Football Drone Ocean Obstacle Racing Challenge Built with exclusive ocean-themed layout, the track is arranged with winding poles, flying hoops and multi-layer 3D barriers. Players maneuver spherical football drones to finish high-speed obstacle avoidance, precise hoop crossing and continuous slalom racing challenges. As a signature aerial event of IYRC, this competition integrates drone flight control algorithms, spatial awareness and precise manipulation skills.

Young competitors achieved multi-dimensional growth through training and matches:

  1. Advanced practical technical literacy Students converted textbook theories into hands-on expertise via mechanical assembly, coding and drone calibration, mastering professional knowledge such as robot sensors, drone flight control and path-planning algorithms.
  2. Cultivation of teamwork and coordination thinking Teams split roles between hardware adjustment, programming optimization and match strategy planning. Participants learned to resolve disagreements and tackle difficulties together, developing solid team spirit.
  3. Enhanced resilience and concentration Unexpected equipment malfunctions, operation errors and time-limited racing pressure taught teenagers to face setbacks calmly. Repeated test flights, debugging and reflection fostered their perseverance, focus and rigorous research attitude.
  4. Broader Greater Bay Area tech vision & preparation for global events By exchanging ideas with peers across Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Macao, students deepened their understanding of the worldwide IYRC robotics and drone competition system. Valuable experience gained at this large exhibition event fully prepares them for upcoming international IYRC tournaments overseas.

Two official IYRC competitions, the Intelligent Task Handling Robot Challenge and Spherical Football Drone Ocean Obstacle Racing Challenge, were held at the 2026 Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Macao "Youth Science Cup". Participants from the Greater Bay Area obtained excellent results. Through robot assembly and drone racing, teenagers improved technical skills, teamwork and resilience, broadened cross-region tech vision, and accumulated practical experience for worldwide IYRC tournaments.
